12 Terrific Letter T Worksheets And Activities For The Toddler Teacher
Do you want some fresh ideas on how to teach letters? Today I am sharing 12 terrific letter T worksheets and activities that are tried and true in my own toddler classroom, and I hope you and your little ones love them as well.
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by my little corner of the internet. My name is Hollie and I have been a childcare provider for many years. I’ve taught multiple ages, but infants and toddlers are my jam. One of my favorite things to do is create fun, engaging units to keep toddlers busy and learning. If you are not subscribed to my email list, I would love for you to join. My emails include exclusive toddler tips, inspiration, and fun freebies created just for this group.
Introducing Letters
Introducing letters to toddlers can be so much fun! I always wait until my toddlers are showing interest in learning letters before bringing this new skill into our classroom. When my little ones are ready, I introduce letters to my toddlers during circle time, and then we build upon these skills later during classroom activities. We will focus on one letter for a week or two before moving on to a different letter.
Introducing Letters To Toddlers
So what does introducing letters to toddlers look like in my classroom? This week we are learning about Letter T and our theme of the week is Turkeys. At the beginning of the week, during circle time, I read the story 10 Fat Turkeys. I love using this book to introduce the letter T because the story is humorous, and the letter T is easily found on every page. After reading this story, the children and I go back through the book and find the letter T on each page. You can make this letter activity extra fun by giving each child a small magnifying glass to help them search for the letter.
Alphabet Hide and Seek
Then the children will go on an Alphabet Hide and Seek. Before my students arrive for the day, I will hide letter T flashcards all around my classroom. My toddlers get so excited when we play this game. They love the challenge of being the first one to find the letter. I hide enough letters so that each student can find one. One tip I have for ya is to hide them easily at the height of your students so this game doesn’t go on forever:)
After the letter T is found, they bring it back to circle time and we later add it to their Letter Hide and Seek Book.
Letter T Books
Looking for more letter T books? Here are my classroom favorites. A great table activity is to place a couple of letter T books along with a magnifying glass on the table and let children find the letter T in the books. This is a great activity to use when children are arriving, or if you are looking for quiet activities for children to do during naptime.

The Letter T Worksheets
To reinforce the letter T, I like to use the letter T worksheets during table time. Table time in my classroom is always right after circle time. The skills that were introduced during circle time can now be built upon during table time. Using the letter T worksheets, I will choose one activity from the letter packet to do each day. I have alphabet printables for each of the 26 letters, and each alphabet printable packet includes 8 different worksheets. I like to have more activities than we can complete in a week, so I can have variety, and the children stay engaged with the activities.
Alphabet Color Page
The first worksheet in the letter T worksheets pack is an alphabet color page. This alphabet color page is always colored at the beginning of the week after I have introduced a new letter. The clipart matches the picture found on our classroom letter poster, and so the children can relate to the letter right away. For the letter T, they will color a Turkey.
Alphabet Cut and Paste Pdf
The next letter T worksheets found in the packet is an alphabet cut and paste pdf. The children will cut out the letter T’s and glue them onto the turkey’s feathers. This alphabet cut and paste pdf is great for working on cutting skills, and letter identification.
Letter T Craft
The next two letter T worksheets found in my alphabet printables are an uppercase and lowercase letter T. I like to get creative with these two-letter printables and use them differently each week. For the uppercase letter of the week, my students will be creating a letter T craft. They will be working on cutting skills as they cut out different colored feathers from construction paper and glue them onto the letter T creating a Turkey.
The Lowercase Letter t
The lowercase letter t color page is a great worksheet for coloring and cutting out. Cutting allows toddlers to build those tiny hand muscles as they open and close the scissors. The lowercase letter t is an easier letter to cut out because of the straight lines. When I am introducing a letter that I know my toddlers can cut out without much frustration, we will be coloring and cutting out the lowercase letter t.
Prewriting Worksheet
Prewriting is developing the fine motor skills to begin writing. A prewriting worksheet will contain different lines that a toddler will try to stay on while moving a writing tool left to right. For a prewriting worksheet, I like to have my toddlers use a bright marker. You can also laminate a prewriting worksheet and use dry erase markers so that the prewriting worksheet can be reused.
Dot Marker Worksheet
My toddlers love dot marker worksheets. This turkey dot marker worksheet soon became a classroom favorite. For this turkey dot marker worksheet, the children used a Q-Tip and different colored paint to fill in each letter Tt they found on the turkey. Other ways I use letter dot marker worksheets in my classroom are having children place stickers on the letters, use dot markers, or gluing small manipulatives on each letter.
Color Worksheet
In each of my letter worksheet packets, I include a color worksheet. This color worksheet is a great worksheet for toddlers to recognize color words and work on color recognition. When completing a color worksheet with my toddlers I will only give them the 11 color crayons they need to complete the assignment. Too many different shades of the same color, found in a large box of color crayons can be frustrating for toddlers when they are learning to recognize colors. My favorite box of crayons to buy for toddlers can be found here. When I purchase these boxes, I only have to add pink, white, and gray for each child to have a complete color set ready for table activities. If you already purchased a larger box of color crayons, I recommend pulling out the 11 common color shades and only using these crayons when completing a color worksheet.
Matching Worksheet
The last worksheet found in the letter T worksheets packet is a matching worksheet. Using a marker or crayon toddlers will match the Thanksgiving dinner foods. By matching the images, toddlers develop visual discrimination skills.
