15 Amazing Letter P Activities Using The Letter P Worksheets
This week my students are being introduced to the letter P using letter P worksheet activities. Our theme this month has been Fairy Tales! We are having a blast focusing on one Fairy Tale a week. Since this week’s Fairy Tale was 3 Little Pigs, it was a perfect opportunity to introduce my older toddlers to the letter P. If you have been planning lessons to introduce each letter of the alphabet, you are going to love these letter p printables. In this blog post, I will be sharing letter p craft activities, letter p tracing worksheets, activities for the Three Little Pigs, and so much more!
I want to personally welcome you to ClubbhouseKids Early Learning. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by my little corner of the internet. My name is Hollie and I have been a childcare provider for 15 years. I’ve taught multiple ages, but infants and toddlers are my jam. One of my favorite things to do is create fun, engaging units to keeps toddlers busy and learning. If you are not subscribed to my email list, I would love for you to join. My emails include exclusive toddler tips, inspiration, and fun freebies created just for this group.
The Letter P Activities
Day 1:
Let’s dive into the letter P activities. My favorite way to introduce a new letter to my students is during circle time. I will hold up the Letter P flashcard and we will talk about the letter of the week. We will then go through our Letter P treasure box using Lakeshore Learning Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs. If you’ve been around ClubbhouseKids for a while, you know how much I love Lakeshore Learning Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs. They are an investment but are well worth it. They make having objects that start with each letter easy and ready to go.
For table time on day 1 of the letter p activities, my students colored a letter p color page and formed the letter p using Learning Resources Letter Builders. For our letter-building activity, I am using a silver tray from Dollar Tree. These trays are magnetic and perfect for this activity.
Activities For The Three Little Pigs
Day 2
For day 2 of Letter P, my main focus was on activities for the three little pigs. We spent most of our morning reading the Three Little Pigs Fairy Tale Book and talking about the story.
For table time they colored the letter P and worked on scissor skills by cutting out the letter P. My students are still using loop scissors. I love using loop scissors before introducing a more traditional scissor with little ones. These loop scissors can help build confidence and strengthen little hand muscles.
Our last activity for the three little pigs today was to match each pig to the correct house. I like to do a simple activity after a more challenging one. Scissor Skills can be a challenging activity for this age group. By piling it with a simpler activity that they can easily complete, children are less likely to get frustrated or lose focus.
Letter P Tracing Worksheet
Day 3
The 3 Little Pigs has been such a fun Fairy Tale to explore this week with my students. We are having a great time. For day 3 we started our table time with a cut and paste. This got in a few scissor skills but not challenging as cutting out the entire letter P. They had to cut out the pigs and paste them onto the brick house. My toddlers love any activity that involves glue sticks. Have you seen those new scented glue sticks? I’m not brave enough to try them in my classroom yet but would love to know if you have.
I also brought out my letter p tracing worksheets. Pre writing worksheets are such a great way to teach early pencil grip and building hand-eye coordination. My students love these prewriting worksheets found in my alphabet printables. I like to use an assortment of different kinds of squiggly lines to keep it fun and new. You can even laminate these Pre writing worksheets and use them multiple times with a dry erase marker.
We also pretended to bake letter P cookies. In a bowl, I placed an assortment of alphabet cookies from Learning Resources. Using the Jumbo Tweezers, the children picked up the letter P from the bowl and placed them onto the tray. We then pretended to bake them in a pretend oven. They loved this letter p activity.
Letter P Printables
Day 4
I pulled out a few letter p printables for day 4 from my The Letter P Worksheets and my 3 Little Pigs Lesson Plan. First, we started with a letter P search and find. The children got to use a Letter P stamp and stamp pad. They placed a letter P stamp on each letter P they found on the pig. Don’t waste your money on expensive stamp pads. I purchase my stamp pads from Dollar Tree and they do not dry up. You can even find an assortment of different colors, check it out in the craft section at Dollar Tree.
Next, we worked on some number skills by placing numbers 1-3 in the correct order to create the 3 Little Pig pictures. This time we used liquid glue instead of a glue stick. Squeezing the glue bottle is an extra way to get in some fine motor skills and work on strengthening their hand muscles.
The last activity we did for Day 4 of Letter P was a fine motor activity using the Learning Resources Jumbo Tweezers. They pinched and placed the pumpkin erasers into the pumpkin ice cube tray.
Letter P Worksheet
Day 5
I held back my students’ favorite letter p worksheet to complete on Day 5 of Letter P. They love doing the Color Worksheet that is included in each one of my letter worksheets. This week’s color worksheet had pigs on it. We started by coloring each of the pigs the color that was printed on it. Next, we used Math Linking Cubes to match the colors to the letter p worksheet.
For the next letter P worksheet, we worked on comparing sizes. Before working on a comparing size worksheet, we will sort objects in our classroom by size. The children will gather toys from our classroom and we will make piles of small toys and large toys. When they have this concept down we will sort the toys again by small, medium, and large. For this letter p worksheet, the children circled the 3 Little Pig clipart that was the biggest with a crayon.
A super simple activity that is a favorite in our classroom is to let the children explore and play with the weekly letter tub. I placed all the letter P objects on a tray from the Letter P Alphabet Tub. My students really enjoy this activity.
The final letter P worksheet we did for our letter P week was a lowercase letter p color page. Using loop scissors the children cut out the lowercase letter p after they were done coloring.
