17+ Weather Songs That will Boost Your Classroom Circle Time
If you are a childcare provider or preschool teacher, you have probably googled “what’s the weather songs” multiple times, trying to find songs of weather to sing during circle time or transitions.
Your search ends today, I’m sharing my favorite weather songs that I sing throughout the entire year with my little learners.
I’m Hollie, a childcare provider and curriculum author who loves to help other providers control the home daycare chaos! I have a passion for circle time because I have seen how my little learners thrive and learn through this daily routine.

What’s the Weather Songs
When discussing the weather, start with a weather transition song. This cues the children that you are going to talk about the current weather. My group and I sing “What’s the Weather.” This song is catchy and easy to memorize.
During circle time, one student is chosen to go to our classroom window while we sing “What’s the Weather?” Then the child will tell the class what kind of weather they are seeing.
As a class, we will have a discussion about the current weather. Preschoolers and toddlers are naturally curious and interested in the weather. Weather affects us all on a daily basis.
We will discuss the clothing and equipment they might need. If it’s rainy we might talk about umbrellas. I might ask “who wore boots to school today,” if it’s snowy outside? On sunny days, I might bring attention to their short sleeve shirts or shorts.
You could also bring attention to the colors you see during different types of weather. On sunny days, they might notice everything looks bright outside. On a stormy morning, the clouds can look gray and sometimes puffy.
Songs of Weather
Next, we sing a song that is related to that day’s weather. If it’s sunny, we sing a sunny song. If it’s raining outside, we sing a rainy song.
I use visual weather posters to go along with the songs, I will hold up a weather song poster, and after we sing the song, we place it on our circle time wall. The children can see the poster all day, which helps them relate to the weather.
I change up our weather songs each season, to keep them fun and engaging.
