If you are new to ClubbhouseKids, welcome! My name is Hollie, and I’ve been a childcare provider for 16 years. I love helping other providers and mamas with ideas to create engaging activities for the little ones in their life. Out of a need to have a program that would work for multiple ages and be appropriate for infants and toddlers, I created ClubbhouseKids Curriculum. Want to know more? #1 All About Me Activity
The first All About Me print out activity is from About Me Week 1. This activity is called “Time To Go Home.” Whenever you have a new group of students, it’s important to talk about schedules and expectations. One part of our classroom schedule that we discuss is the going home procedures. What does this look like? Who picks up each student? I also go over the process of packing up our bookbags.
After this discussion, I will place different colored house printables around the classroom. The children will sort the people counters by color to the correct homes.
For added fun, bring out a pretend bus or car so the kiddos can drive the students home from school.
To finish this activity, we discuss the different colors found on the people counters, and then the children will color a student printable their own favorite color.
Taking Care of A Doll
Empathy and compassion can be learned by caring for a doll. While children role play caring for another, they are learning important social skills, such as responsibility and social-emotional development. It teaches them to empathize with those around them and allows them to grow up into caring people.
I always make time for doll play during our All About Me theme. I will either set up a nursery dramatic play center or create a doll play exploration box. The children get to pretend to feed, rock, change, and nap their baby dolls.
All About Me Theme Activities
Discussing feelings during an all about me theme builds skills for communicating with others. Learning the vocabulary to describe your feelings helps children self-regulate when they experience challenges.
One way to teach different feelings is the discuss the characters in the books you are reading. For example, pause while reading to ask, “how do you think he feels right now?”
Another way to teach feelings is to show emotion on your face and ask the kids to guess the feelings. Then, have the children create the same sentiment on their faces and look in a mirror to see themselves.
To end this activity, you can have the children watercolor the emotion they are currently feeling. This printable is part of a feelings weekly lesson plan; you can get it here.
All About Me Gross Motor Activities
Young children need activities that get them moving! My students love acting out gross motor movement cards. The cards I created for my All About Me theme were kids’ yoga positions.
These are so much fun and a great way to lead into a discussion about our marvelous bodies and all the wonderful things they can do.
These printable gross motor cards are part of my Marvelous Me weekly lesson plan; you can get them here.
All About Me Lesson Plans
I only shared one activity from each one of my weekly All About Me Theme. The entire monthly theme includes four full weeks of lesson plans. That’s 20 teacher table activities, 12 weekly tot tray activities, printables, teacher lesson plans, book recommendations, and weekly themed songs.
