Welcome you to ClubbhouseKids Early Learning. My name is Hollie and I have been a childcare provider for 15 years. I have taught multiple ages, but infants and toddlers are my jam. I love creating fun, engaging units to keeps toddlers busy and learning. Fall is my favorite season to teach! Here are some fall toddler activities I am looking forward to doing this month with my students. Let’s get started!
Printable Toddler Activities
Searching for fall printable toddler activities? Printables make it easy and fun to quickly get a toddler activity ready to go. This first printable toddler activity I will be sharing with you is perfect for working on fine motor skills. I love a simple activity that is easy to prep and loads of fun!
Hedgehogs are adorable! In my classroom, we work on activities with the theme of hedgehogs for a whole week in the Fall because I can’t get enough of them. You can check out my entire hedgehog lesson plans here. This fine motor activity is included in that printable packet. Using clothespins the children have to work on their pincer grasp to pinch and release the clothespins onto the hedgehog.
Toddler Activities For Fall
The next toddler activities for Fall I will be sharing with you is an Acorn Poem. My students love listening to our 5 Little Acorns poem. Rhyming Poems are a great language activity that can help introduce your students to rhythm and rhyme. I like to incorporate props into our classroom rhyming poems.
For 5 Little Acorns, I attach 5 clipart acorns to popsicle sticks so we can act out the poem together. I also use a squirrel from the game The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game. I will hold up the five acorns as we sing the songs together and then have the squirrel eat the acorns as they “fall” from the tree. My favorite book to read after this activity is Squirrel’s Busy Day by Lucy Barnard.
Toddler Math Activities
Looking for toddler math activities to do with your students this fall? This scarecrow number match is one of my favorite toddler math activities. This activity teaches number sequence, one-to-one correspondence, number recognition, and counting. I love this activity because you vary the learning objectives to meet the individual needs of each student in your class.
For my youngest students, we might just place numbers 1-3 in numeral sequence. You can use the crow cards as counting cards letting the children point to each crow to count the correct number on each card. For my oldest students, they can match the crow counting card to the corresponding scarecrow card. This scarecrow number match is always a classroom favorite.
Toddler Activities Fall
You can’t talk about toddler activities fall without talking about a playdough activity. What toddler doesn’t love to play with playdough? Playdough in a toddler classroom is a great fine motor activity, sensory activity and can also be very calming to children. I like to add playdough opportunities all the time to our daily schedule.
These Fall playdough mats are so much fun! My students love to add pumpkins to the pumpkin patch, place apples in the apple tree and so much more! We do this toddler activities fall playdough mats as a group the first time I introduce it, and then it will become a table activity for the rest of the month.
Pumpkin Craft Toddlers
Get ready for this adorable pumpkin craft! This pumpkin craft toddlers is one of my favorite fall kid craft ideas. I love making handprint and footprint crafts in my home daycare. The parents really appreciate these keepsakes. I love this pumpkin craft toddlers printable because I can either use the child’s handprint or footprint to create this pumpkin.
I like to use a footprint with infants in my care. Here is my best tip to get a great infant footprint. Place the infants in a highchair, this will allow great access to their feet, but also keeps the paint out of their mouths. Have a warm washcloth ready to wash those piggy wiggies clean. Toddlers LOVE to get their hands and feet painted! You will have a classroom of giggles. Working with little ones, I do always use washable, safe paint. I have been really impressed with Dollar Tree’s selection of tempera paint found in the craft area.
Fall Reading Books
The last fall toddler activities I will be sharing are some fall reading books. I have books all over my classroom. Out of all the activities I do with my students in my classroom, reading to them is by far the most important. Reading to toddlers increases their vocabulary, language development, listening skills and so much more! I will be sharing with you my 6 favorite fall reading books.
