Let’s Go On A Shape Hunt
One of my favorite activities for teaching preschool shapes is the Shape Hunt. It can be done indoors or outdoors and is a great way to get preschoolers moving while learning. This hands-on exploration helps children recognize and understand shapes and encourages them to interact with their environment and peers.
Tell the children that they are going on a scavenger hunt to find something in the shape of a square. Encourage them to look around the room or designated area for objects that match the description.
Once everyone has found an item, gather back in a circle. Ask each child to show the group what they saw. Hold up one of the square items and encourage everyone to sing a fun “Square” song together.
