Circle Time Songs are always a hit and a great way to start your learning day with kids. In this blog post, I will be sharing my favorite circle time songs that I use in my daycare classroom every day.

My favorite song for circle time to get little ones focused and excited for the school day!

As a childcare provider for over 15 years, I have found circle time songs increase student engagement and create a fun, positive atmosphere. So if you are looking for a song for circle time, here are my top 5 favorites!

  • Good Morning Song For Circle Time
  • Circle Time Welcome Songs
  • What’s the Weather Songs
  • Music and Movement Songs
  • Transition Song For Classroom

Good Morning Song For Circle Time

The first song we sing is a good morning song for circle time. Good morning songs or circle time welcome songs are a great way to transition your group to get ready for circle time.

I like to keep this song quick and peppy so that the children get excited and ready to start the day. By the time we have finished singing this song, the children are usually seated on the carpet and ready for circle time.

Circle Time Welcome Songs

My next favorite type of song to sing is circle time welcome songs. Now that everyone is seated on the carpet, I like to individually welcome each child. The best way to do this is by singing a circle time name song.

This name song is a great way to ensure each student feels special and that they belong. As I sing each child’s name, I make sure and make eye contact with each student and smile at them.

What’s the Weather Songs

Children love to look out the window and tell you what the weather is. This is by far my student’s favorite part of our circle time routine. I will have one student go to the window and tell everyone “What’s the Weather.” As we sing the day’s weather song, I will hold up a day’s weather poster song.

As I’m writing this post, the season is summer. I have What’s the Weather Songs for each of the 4 seasons. If you are interested in my other season weather songs, they are all included in my full-year circle time printables.

Music and Movement Songs

Who doesn’t like music and movement songs? This has to be my next favorite! In my classroom, we sing music and movement songs that go along with our theme of the month. For the month of June, our theme is Going on a Picnic you can see all the fun songs we are singing below.

I love themed songs so much, that I’ve created song printables for every single one of my classroom themes! You can print them off for free to have in your classroom as well!

Transition Song For Classroom

I always end circle time with a transition song. This cues the children that we are moving on to the next part of our day. For us, that is going to our classroom table for a group activity. Just like our Good Morning Song, this transition song is quick and peppy and easy to sing along to!
